ABOUT GHOST MIND
Ghost Mind are an experimental improvising ensemble based in Cheltenham and London. Founded in 2014, the group's practice centres on a distinctive concept: a core trio of Pete Robson (trumpet/piano), Stuart Wilding (percussion), and Charlie Folorunsho (voice), augmented by a continuously evolving backdrop of found sounds drawn from locations across the globe — the titular 'Ghost', a fourth, invisible member. Extended collaborators include Carina Tint (xiao/bamboo flutes), Zhuyang Liu (guzheng), and Barbie Mukoda (flutes).
The concept emerged from the Cheltenham Improvisers Orchestra, where the founding members sought a more intimate format that could sustain the textural and spatial qualities of large-ensemble free improvisation. Ghost
Mind have since performed widely across the UK and toured Germany, collaborating with Göttingen trio Brainville Desperados. Further collaborations span Rothko, Emi Watanabe, BeiBei Wang, Saltings, Lee Boyd Allotson, Chris Cundy, and numerous poets and performance artists. In 2017 they contributed a live improvised soundscape to a radio performance of Bill Drummond is Dead (Johny Brown / Tam Dean Burn) for Resonance FM.
